Criminal records can be inaccurate for a variety of reasons. Offenders can have their records expunged; data is entered and updated by humans, thus a margin for human error. False positives can occur due to identity theft, spelling errors, name changes and so on. That is why it’s best to use a professional screening agency who is regulated by FCRA, reducing your risk.

How often should we screen our staff?

Check with your peers.  If others are screening annually, you probably should too as this has become common practice.  Additionally, check with your insurance provider for any requirements they may have.
